DuraPlate MP

OEM Applications

Corrosion Is a Warranty Cost Wearing a Chemistry Costume

If you manufacture anything from steel — trailers, implements, enclosures, racks, outdoor products — rust is not a maintenance problem. It is a brand problem that surfaces in year three of a five-year warranty, in dealer complaints, and in the used-market price your product commands against competitors. Powder coat looks superb on the showroom floor, but a single chip in service becomes a moisture cell, and the corrosion creeps under the film from there. Wet paint systems fare worse.

DuraPlate MP takes a different position in your process: a membrane protection step, applied in-line after fabrication, that turns the most failure-prone zones of your product — welds, seams, lower rails, undersides, ground-contact points — into 40–60 mil elastomer-clad surfaces that a chip cannot undermine. Polyurea does not propagate damage: a gouge stays a local gouge, because the film is bonded at hundreds of PSI across every square inch, leaving no path for underfilm creep.

Where Manufacturers Put It

Trailer and truck-body plants: full undersides, crossmembers, rock guards and fender interiors coated between weld-out and final assembly.

Implement and attachment builders: ground-engaging frames, sprayer components exposed to fertilizer, and pivot points where paint always fails first.

Enclosure and infrastructure fabricators: pad-mounted cabinets, pole bases and anchor zones — the grade-line band where soil moisture kills paint in two seasons.

Job shops: a coating cell running DuraPlate MP becomes a quotable value-add on every weldment that ships to an outdoor life.

Application fits existing flow: parts arrive from blast at SSPC-SP6, are masked on fixtures, sprayed, and are handleable in minutes — no cure ovens, no rack time, no WIP pileup.

The Longevity Argument, Quantified

Corrosion engineering has a simple rule: protection is only as good as the barrier is continuous. Electrochemically, steel corrodes wherever an electrolyte film bridges anodic and cathodic sites on the surface; every coating holiday, chip or thin spot becomes the anode, and corrosion concentrates there — which is why thin-film systems fail fast and locally. A 40-mil elastomeric membrane holds barrier continuity through impacts that shatter rigid films, and its 1,000-hour-plus salt-spray performance translates into products that reach the end of their mechanical life with their steel intact.

For your sales team, that becomes a spec-sheet line and a warranty position competitors have to answer. For your operations team, it is a one-station process addition with same-shift throughput. We support both: marketing-ready performance data for your literature, and process engineering for your line.
