FAQ

Manufacturer Questions

What does adding a coating cell actually involve?

A ventilated spray area, a plural-component proportioner and heated hose set, fixturing for your part family, and one to two trained operators. Footprint is comparable to a paint touch-up station. We scope it against your takt time before you commit to anything.

What surface prep does the line need?

Parts coming off abrasive blast at SSPC-SP6 with a 2–4 mil profile are ideal and typical. If your process uses washed-and-dried hot-rolled steel with mill scale removed, we validate adhesion on your actual substrate during trials.

What is the per-part material cost?

At 100% solids, math is direct: 1,600 mil-sq-ft per gallon. A 25-sq-ft underside at 50 mils is about 0.8 gallon. We build a per-part cost model with your geometry during the program quote, so the number lands in your BOM, not in a surprise.

Does it slow the line?

Gel in seconds and handleable in minutes means coated parts move to the next station within the same cycle in most layouts. There is no oven and no cure rack, which usually makes the coating cell faster than the paint process it supplements or replaces.

Can we get performance data for our sales literature?

Yes — ASTM-referenced property data, salt-spray results and application-spec language you can print, plus support for setting a defensible corrosion warranty position on coated zones.

How is OEM pricing structured?

Annual supply agreements tiered by volume, with quarterly release scheduling and lot-traceable certs. Job shops and lower-volume fabricators buy on standard wholesale terms. Either way, start with the contact form and your approximate annual steel throughput.
